Based on this scene, I developed the theory that the nasty Others were trying to get Kate pregnant so they could experiment on her or raise a new race of guardians for the island or some such thing. I kept kept expecting Sawyer to drop his shovel and run up behind her “Quest for Fire”-caveman-style, flip that dress out of the way, and load her up with babies.
